stamps were sold from boxes containing 100 stamps. The paper
underneath the stamps is transparent and numbered. A
3-digit number
occurs underneath every 5th stamp
(every 4th stamp from NK 1700), telling how many stamps there are

In 2003 and 2006 Norwegian stamp sets were issued in self adhesive sheets only. These stamps were also produced for the PFT in coils of 5.000 for production of the above mentioned philatelic products. Since the numbers are printed on the paper underneath the stamps, you will find them on mint stamps only. That means in Presentation Packs, Collector’s Packs, Year Sets, Year Books and Customer’s Standing Orders for single stamps. If none are used for postage (naturally some are), 1/5 of the coil stamps in these products have a 4-digit number (see estimate below).
