This session shows items from my former collection "Antarctica". After 1993 there are only occational items. The Norwegian involvement in Arntarctic waters started in the 1880s with the inventor of the modern harpoon, Sven Foyn. He and his partners equipped two expedition, primarely looking for whale. They were however, not successful. Carl Anton Larsen continued the search early in the 20th century, and that was the beginning of whaling in the southern seas. |
